Union Wants OSHA To Investigate Workplace Complaints

Nevada’s largest health care union is asking state officials to thoroughly investigate workplace safety complaints at local hospitals.

SEIU 1107 board member Jody Domineck says it’s unacceptable that the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration is not performing work-site inspections.

Domineck, a registered nurse at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, says more than two dozen complaints have gone unanswered since the state’s coronavirus outbreak began in early March.

“They have to see what we are doing and what we are being asked to do, in order to do that,” she said.

Union officials say they are preparing to file more complaints in the coming days. The Southern Nevada Health District estimates more than 130 health care workers have contracted the coronavirus.
