Gov. Sisolak Updates Unemployment Rules

Governor Steve Sisolak announced updates to unemployment benefits for the thousands of Nevadans who have filed.

The governor told the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation to backdate all unemployment claims to the earliest date that someone was eligible.

That means that people who have been unable to file because of the surge of demand will not miss out on benefits.

“Whenever your application was submitted, you will be paid retroactively and there’s no more action you need to take for this to go through if you have already filed your initial claim,” said Gov. Sisolak. 

In addition, Nevada will be one of the first states to get the additional $600 in unemployment benefits from the federal CAREs act.
