Clark County will have about $1 billion less in revenue over the next 16 months because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Colvin.
Colvin made the announcement to the Clark County Commission on Tuesday.
She also announced that the general fund is projected to see a $315 million shortfall for fiscal 2021.
Most of the revenue losses will be from room tax, gaming licenses, business licenses, consolidated tax and service charges, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
For the rest of this fiscal year, Colvin projects a $118 million loss of revenue by June or about 52% less than Fiscal Year 2019.
Staffers had planned to present a tentative budget for the 2021 fiscal year to commissioners in March and then submit it to the state on April 15. The pandemic emergency meant they had to start the process over.
