Water Authority Considers Raising Rates To Pay For New Water Infrastructure

A $3 billion package of water projects up for consideration by the Southern Nevada Water Authority could raise average residential bills.

It’s been approved by an advisory committee, and the board will consider it at a meeting on March 19.

The projects would be funded by loans and rate increases, including connection charges for developers, and infrastructure and water-use charges for all valley water consumers.

A typical home’s monthly bill could increase by about $10.

Two of the projects on the list are intended to help development at Apex Industrial Park: a water system taking water to the park and a system that would take the area’s wastewater to a treatment plant so it could be returned to Lake Mead.
