Judges In Southern Nevada Suspend Evictions

Southern Nevada courts are halting eviction proceedings, at least for now, in response to COVID-19.

Judges in Henderson, North Las Vegas, and Las Vegas have issued administrative orders that suspend proceedings for 30 days. Some 36,000 eviction cases came through the courts last year.

Further actions taken by the federal government are also shielding homeowners from foreclosures.

In a statement Wednesday, Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine wrote that the actions will protect nearly 85 percent of the state’s single-family homeowners.
