Judge: Las Vegas Newspaper Owes $1.9M To Rival Under Joint Pact

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada judge says the Las Vegas Review-Journal owes $1.9 million and counting to its crosstown rival Las Vegas Sun in an ongoing legal battle over profit-sharing under their joint-operating agreement.

An attorney for the Review-Journal characterizes a Tuesday court order setting the amount as a "technical formality" in the breach-of-contract case. He says both sides have already appealed to the state Supreme Court.

They also have a federal antitrust and unfair trade lawsuit pending. The Sun accuses the Review-Journal of trying to starve it of revenues.

The Review-Journal is owned by the family of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson.
