Gov. Sisolak Calls For Change To Primary System

Gov. Steve Sisolak has joined other top state Democrats in calling for Nevada to use primaries to select presidential candidates instead of the current caucus system.

He said in a statement the caucus system has challenges that make it difficult for many people to participate, even with the early voting period used this year.

He said he plans to work with the state party and leaders in the State Senate and Assembly to review switching to a presidential primary.

Former Sen. Harry Reid had earlier called for a switch from the caucus system and state Democratic Party Chairman William McCurdy II said it should be considered.
