A city police official says about one in 10 people booked last year at the two largest jails in Las Vegas reported having no permanent place to live.
A regional panel is assessing homelessness and sources of funding to address it. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported a public safety lieutenant said Thursday the rate was just over 15% at the city jail last year.

A Las Vegas police captain said about 6% of people processed at the county jail in 2019 identified themselves as homeless. Las Vegas begins Feb. 1 enforcing a law making it illegal for people to sleep on streets when beds are available at established shelters.
