The U.S. Navy says no significant environmental harm would come from its proposed tripling of the size of a Nevada bombing training range opposed by neighboring tribes and conservationists.
The Navy wants to add more than 1,000 square miles to the range at the Fallon Naval Air Station east of Reno.

It says the expansion is critical to meeting combat training needs for modern aircraft and weapons systems that have outgrown training capabilities over the past two decades.
Critics say it would harm fish and wildlife and restrict public access to federal lands, including the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge.
