Flu Death Total Increases After 5 More Confirmed In Nevada

Health officials in Nevada have confirmed five new flu-related fatalities in the past week, increasing the total to 11.

 

Southern Nevada Health District officials reported Friday that there were four deaths in people 65 and older and one death of a child under the age of 5. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials estimate there have been at least 2,900 deaths from the flu nationwide so far this season.

District health officials say there have been more cases of hospitalizations through Jan. 4 this year in Clark County compared to the same time period last year.

 

Officials encourage anyone 6 months of age or older to get a flu vaccine every season.
