Authorities say Reno police officers responded to a report of gunfire September 2017 and located both Upton and a juvenile victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to the leg.

Authorities say the then-16-year-old teen was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Reno police say Upton contacted a group of teens because of their suspicious behavior but fired three shots when one approached him.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 2020.
