Construction Begins Soon On New Reno Indoor Sports Dome

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Construction begins in south Reno later this month for a 120,000-square-foot indoor sports facility for children and adults.

KOLO-TV reported Thursday the new Sportsdome XL on South Meadows Parkway will be three times bigger than the current Reno Sportsdome north of downtown.

It will provide indoor turf and court space for soccer, flag football, futsal, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, pickle ball and softball. It also will feature a bar and lounge with an expanded menu and be available to book for corporate events, trade shows and birthday parties.

Owner Owen Blake says the original Reno Sportsdome will remain open. He says there have been some construction delays for the new facility but they're back on track and ready to break ground.

It's expected to open sometime next year.
