Research: Southern Nevada Expected To Spend $369M On Homeless Services

All of Southern Nevada is spending an average of about $26,500 for each homeless person that various agencies interact with for a total of about $369 million expected this year, according to a study by research firm Applied Analysis.

The research shows agencies around the region have spent about $234 million this year on homeless services, according to Jeremy Aguero, a researcher with Applied Analysis, who did the survey for the city’s Department of Community Service.

The costs include social services, housing, policing, incarceration, medical treatment, hospitalization and cleanup of areas popular with the homeless, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
