Areas of Washoe County, including Reno and Sparks, have banned smoking and vaping in parks

The intent is to create cleaner and healthier public spaces and to make parks more inviting for non-smokers.

Consequences for breaking the new law vary, but violators could be given a misdemeanor citation. The City of Reno led the effort when they banned smoking in public parks earlier this month.
