Teen Rafter Who Was Subject Of River Search Turns Up Safe

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno-area authorities say a 17-year-old rafter who was reporting missing and was the subject of a search along the Truckee River has been located safe.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says the youth apparently was able to walk back to the Sparks area and called his family from a gas station Monday night.

The Sheriff's Office says the youth and friends were rafting when his raft got ahead of the group and they became separated.
