The Clark County School District has filed an injunction to stop a strike by teachers.
The district filed the injunction Monday because of stalled negotiations with the Clark County Education Association, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The CCEA has said it will strike Sept. 10 if there is not an agreement with the district.
The biggest sticking point is pay increases for teachers who have completed professional development and earned a jump in pay.
It is illegal for teachers to strike in Nevada. The union could face steep fines and teachers could be fired if they strike. However, Superintendent Jesus Jara told KNPR's State of Nevada he does not want to fire teachers.
Jara said he is working on a plan to keep schools open - if teachers do go on strike.
