CCSD Teachers Threaten Strike By End Of The Week

The Clark County Education Association has rejected the Clark County School District’s offer in their latest round of contract negotiations.

The CCEA says that by the end of the week, if there is no change in the district’s offer, the teachers union will mobilize for their first strike action to take place on Sept. 10.

The announcement comes on the heels of a legislative session that didn’t appropriate enough funding to meet all the union’s demands.

It is illegal for teachers in Nevada to strike. The union could face a large fine if it does strike and teachers could be fired.

The biggest sticking point between the union and the district is raises for teachers that have completed advanced training.
