Largest Of 28 Nevada Wildfires Contained At 10 Square Miles

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Federal firefighters have contained the largest of more than two dozen wildfires that broke out in Nevada over the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management said Wednesday the Buffalo Fire burned nearly 10 square miles of remote rangeland in north-central Nevada before crews contained it about 20 miles west of Battle Mountain.

The blaze was reported Saturday morning on the east side of the Buffalo Mountains south of Interstate 80 about 67 miles southeast of Winnemucca.
