The Clark County School District is directing all middle and high schools to reduce their budgets by almost $100 per student.
Superintendent Jesus Jara made the announcement Thursday as the solution to a $17 million budget shortfall in the district.
This is the second time Jara has floated a solution for the district’s budget troubles. The first was an announcement to eliminate 170 dean positions with schools, causing the administrators union to cast a no-confidence vote in Jara and file a lawsuit against the district.

Jara has since gathered input from teachers, administrators, support professionals and other stakeholders to find common ground on how the budget shortfall can be addressed.
