Wildfire North Of Reno Contained; 3 Homes Threatened

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Firefighters have contained a wildland blaze north of Reno that destroyed several outbuildings and threatened three homes.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District spokesman Adam Mayberry told the Reno Gazette-Journal multiple sheds and a travel trailer were destroyed in the fire that broke out in Cold Springs at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

He says three nearby homes were threatened but escaped any damage.

Mayberry says firefighters had a difficult time accessing the fire and had to cut through gates and barbed wire to attack the flames. They also had to bring in water tenders because the nearest hydrant was about 1,000 feet away.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
