Gov. Sisolak Signs Bill Creating Patient Protection Commission

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak signed Senate Bill 544, which creates the Patient Protection Commission.

The PPC will examine health care costs and the primary factors that are driving those costs.

It will also review the disparity of care among different communities, including the adequacy of health care providers and availability of health insurance plans.

The governor will appoint 11 commission members with recommendations from legislative leadership.

Appointees will be tasked with evaluating the commission’s role in Nevada’s health care policy, which might include a more comprehensive or regulatory function in the future.
