Las Vegas Motorcycle Police Officer Injured In Hit-And-Run

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested in a hit-and-accident that injured a Las Vegas police officer following a traffic stop.

Las Vegas Metro Police say 22-year-old William Vinson is facing charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon.

They say Vinson was taken into custody Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

It was unclear Thursday if he has lawyer yet.

Police say a Metro motorcycle officer pulled over Vinson early Wednesday.

As the officer came to a stop behind the SUV, authorities say Vinson shifted into reverse and hit the officer before taking off.

Police found Vinson's vehicle abandoned about a mile away.

The injured officer was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released.
