California Sees Spike In Marijuana Trafficking Arrests

It’s been more than a year since California legalized the recreational use of cannabis, and since then, trafficking arrests have risen 166 percent at LAX, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Many people were arrested for trying to smuggle marijuana out of the state. They said they had flown to California to purchase better and cheaper cannabis products to sell for a profit back home.

And while the practice is growing among commercial airline passengers, it’s also being seen on the roadways. Last year, the California Highway Patrol seized more than 8 tons of marijuana on its way out of the state.
