Research Shows Strip Resorts Lost $150 Million To Airbnb Rentals

A report by a New York research firm says resorts on the Strip may have lost as much as $150 million last year to Airbnb accommodations in Las Vegas.

The report was released last week, and Telsey Group Advisory analyst Brian McGill said he expects 2019 Airbnb visitors to Las Vegas to approach one million, an increase of nearly 40 percent.

McGill told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that while Airbnb draws less than 2 percent of Las Vegas visitors, it is having an impact on the bottom line of resorts, especially during times of peak demand like the Super Bowl or the Consumer Electronics Show.
