Catholic School In Las Vegas Closed, 1 Questioned In Threat Case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in Las Vegas say a person was in police custody and a Catholic parish school was closed for the day after a former employee left a voice message characterized as a threat.

The Diocese of Las Vegas says the message was received early Monday and St. Viator Catholic School was closed as a precaution.

It says the person hadn't worked at the school for several years.

St. Viator is east of the Las Vegas Strip and has about 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten to eight.

A police statement suggests the person who made the threat is the person being questioned.

The exact threat was not described and officials neither identified nor said whether the person was male or female.

Classes are scheduled to resume Tuesday.
