Sen. Cortez Masto Vows To Slow DOE Nomination Process

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto says she will slow the process for all nominations to the staff of the Department of Energy until the agency stops sending plutonium to Nevada, and provides a date for the removal of the plutonium secretly shipped here last year.

The Nevada Independent reports that Cortez Masto’s action was outlined in a statement she gave the site.

Cortez Masto’s move will require Senate Republican leaders to take roll call votes on any nominees to approve their nominations, in order for them to be confirmed, which would slow other Senate GOP actions by taking up time on the Senate floor.
