Las Vegas Police: Man Wounded By Officers Wielded Handgun

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A police official says a man wounded by Las Vegas patrol officers pointed a handgun at them before he was shot in the third police shooting in four days.

Police Capt. Kelly McMahill told reporters the wounded man was taken in critical condition to University Medical Center after the shooting about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in a residential neighborhood just east of downtown.

His name and those of the officers weren't immediately made public.

McMahill says four officers fired multiple shots and it wasn't immediately clear if the man fired any shots. No officers were injured.

A revolver was found at the shooting scene, where McMahill says the man's brother reported he threatened their father with a gun.

She says the man refused officers' commands to drop the weapon.
