Many major highways over the Sierra Nevada west of the Tahoe-Reno area were closed for much of the weekend after another round of heavy snowstorms.
Interstate 80 and US Highway 50 in California are both restricted to vehicles with chains, as are roads west of Carson City including US 50, and two other major access roads to Lake Tahoe from Carson City and Reno.
