Utah Congressmen Requesting Emergency Funding for National Parks During Government Shutdown

As the partial government shutdown extends into a third week, three Utah congressmen have asked the Department of Interior for additional funding for their state’s national parks due to public safety and property concerns. <br><br>

 

Republicans Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart and John Curtis wrote a letter Friday to Acting Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt, saying the federal government “has the authority to do more” for parks such as Zion and Bryce Canyon.  They remain accessible, but with severe operational cutbacks.  <br><br>
