Fewer Arrests Reported At South Lake Tahoe Music Festival

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — City officials say the first day of an annual winter music festival at South Lake Tahoe was the smoothest single day in the event's eight-year history.

The Reno Gazette Journal reports that just one person was arrested on the first day of the three-day SnowGlobe festival and police reported no significant problems. Last year, 13 arrests were made on the opening day.

Day one of the festival also saw the fewest number of patients treated. The company contracted to handle the event's on-site medical issues treated 23 patients for various issues.

Last year, nearly five dozen people were treated during the same period.

South Lake Tahoe set up a hotline for noise and other complaints associated with the festival, and organizers have made trash collection a priority.
