Donor Covers Cost Of Guns Used In October 1 Shooting

A San Francisco software executive has donated more than $62,000 to try to ensure the destruction of the firearms owned by the gunman in the Las Vegas massacre.

The New York Times reports that the anonymous donor covered the value of firearms owned by Stephen Paddock, as determined by a court-appointed special administrator.

Survivors of the 58 people killed in the shooting had the option of selling the weapons to raise money or have the guns destroyed in a symbolic renunciation of violence.

The donor’s sole condition of the donation is that the guns are destroyed.
