Coalition Of Groups Work To Keep Zion National Park Open

Zion National Park will remain open throughout the week thanks to the efforts of a coalition of agencies that includes the city of St. George.

City officials announced that St. George, Washington County and the Utah Office of Tourism have joined the Zion Forever Project in funding operations from January 6 to 12.

The need for funding is due to the partial government shutdown, which today enters its 16TH day.

P. Daniel Smith, the deputy director of the service, said in a statement the Trump administration’s decision to keep the parks open during the budget impasse was no longer workable, and more extreme measures were warranted.
