The U.S. Department of Justice is sending federal employees to watch Nevada elections today to monitor compliance with the federal voting rights laws.

Thirty-five jurisdictions across 19 states were chosen for federal monitoring, including Clark and Washoe counties.

According to the Justice Department, the monitoring program has been a normal part of its operations since 1965.
