Gaming Officials Draft New Sexual Harassment Policy For License Holders

Proposed policy changes governing sexual harassment awareness and prevention were approved by the Gaming Control Board this week and will now be forwarded to the Nevada Gaming Commission.

The changes were addressed at a public workshop which included speakers such as longtime Nevada gaming figure Patricia Becker and Caesars Entertainment executive Jan Jones Blackhurst, who spoke in favor of the new regulations.

CDC Gaming Reports said the control board also received support from outgoing Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and former Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett.

The control board voted unanimously to forward the changes to the Gaming Commission.

The recommendation includes a sexual harassment awareness and prevention standards checklist to be completed by all Nevada gaming license holders.

Control Board Chairwoman Becky Harris said it was unclear when the commission would take up the matter, but license holders would have up to a year to comply with the new policy once the final ruling is set.
