Graham: Democrats' Opposition Should 'Blow Up In Their Face'

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says he hopes Democratic opposition to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh "blows up in their face."

Graham made the comments while appearing with Nevada Sen. Dean Heller near Las Vegas on Friday hours after authorities arrested a Florida man suspected of sending pipe bombs to Democrats and prominent critics of President Donald Trump.

He said at a campaign stop with Heller: "It's a noble cause in their eyes to destroy a conservative judicial candidate, and I hope it blows up in their face."

The Las Vegas Sun reports Graham clarified afterward that he had meant he hoped the opposition would blow up politically for Democrats.

Graham also called the mailing of bombs "political terrorism generated by a man who thinks he's helping Trump, who's hurting America."
