Legislative Panel Votes To Oppose Fossil-Fuel In Ruby Mountains

A legislative panel in Nevada voted today to oppose fossil-fuel development in the Ruby Mountains and ask Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to prevent oil and gas leasing there.

The Nevada Legislative Committee on Public Lands agreed to send a letter to Perdue highlighting the values of the Ruby Mountains and urging the secretary to prevent the Forest Service from leasing.

The committee voted 5-4 vote comes after a year of public comment mostly opposing the Forest Service plan.
