Heller Predicts Kavanaugh Will Be Confirmed

Republican Sen. Dean Heller is predicting that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed despite what he called the “hiccup” of a recent allegation that the judge sexually assaulted a woman when they were both teenagers.

The Nevada Independent reports that Heller made the comments Wednesday in a conference call arranged by the Nevada Republican Party ahead of President Trump’s visit to the state Thursday.

Senator Heller previously said he had "no reservations" about confirming Kavanaugh, but beyond Wednesday's comments, it’s unclear if that's changed in light of the allegations.

After the conference call, Heller's office released a statement from the senator, where he said it was important that the woman accusing Kavanaugh share her information with the Judiciary Committee.
