Firefighters are making progress to contain the Boot Fire in Western Nevada.
According to the Forest Service containment now hovers around 50 percent, with growth primarily occurring near the northwest flank.
Highway 395 and State Route 108 reopened this weekend, but officials were asking drivers to avoid certain areas around the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.

Drivers were asked to travel with extreme caution through Walker River Canyon and along California 108 due to the danger of loose rocks and debris from burned hillsides.
The fire is located about an hour and a half south of Reno, and about 30 homes do remain threatened. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
