West Wendover Plans To Sell City Land To Marijuana Dispensary

The city of West Wendover plans to sell ten acres of city land to a marijuana dispensary.

The Elko Daily News reports that Mesquite-based Deep Roots Harvest plans to enter into a lease-purchase agreement with West Wendover for three acres of land in an industrial park.

Deep Roots says its plans to open a medical dispensary there would be risky financially without recreational sale added.

The lease would be about $20,000 per year.

The West Wendover City Council has scheduled a first reading of an ordinance allowing wholesale production of recreational marijuana at a regular meeting next Tuesday.

The state leaves it up to cities to decide whether to allow recreational pot sales.  Elko has rejected any sales of marijuana in the city limits, including medicinal; Carlin and Wells also opposed medical dispensaries, making West Wendover’s the only dispensary in Elko County.
