Police: Las Vegas Detective Fires Shot, Armed Suspect Surrenders

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a detective shot once but missed an armed burglary suspect who surrendered after running from officers during his arrest over the weekend in Las Vegas.

 

Capt. Jamie Prosser said in a recorded statement that the suspect wasn't wounded but was hospitalized for an ankle injury after the chase and his arrest about 9:30 p.m. Saturday several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.

The names of the man and the officer weren't immediately made public.

Prosser says the man was a suspect in a burglary case who was sought after he was reported to have violated terms of house arrest.

 

The detective was placed on administrative leave pending departmental and district attorney reviews of the shooting.
