Nevada Senate Candidates Differ On $15 Minimum Wage Debate

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Democratic push to raise the minimum wage is becoming an issue in a close race for a U.S. Senate seat in Nevada.

Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen met Tuesday in Las Vegas with labor union members and other workers pushing for a $15 minimum wage to hear how they're struggling to make ends meet.

She is one of more than 170 sponsors of legislation in Congress to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $15 an hour.

Rosen's meeting comes on the heels of Republican incumbent Dean Heller's comments last week that he wants to do away with the federal minimum wage and let states decide whether to have one.

Nevada's minimum wage is $7.25 per hour for employees with health insurance through their job and $8.25 per hour for those who don't.
