The agency says 26 pedestrians in Clark County and three in Washoe County died in the first half of the year.

Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jason Buratczuk says pedestrian safety is a two-way street.

Officials are urging pedestrians to only use intersections and marked mid-block crosswalks and to continue to look for oncoming traffic until reaching the other side of the road.

They are also reminding drivers to follow speed limits and to check for and yield to pedestrians at intersections or mid-block crosswalks.
