Death Valley has just broken its own record for hottest month on Earth since record-keeping began.
The region averaged 108.1 degrees in July, a half-degree increase from its record average in July of last year, according to The Washington Post.
Last July's average had broken a 100-year-old record.

July’s normal high temperature in Death Valley is 116.5 degrees, but last month highs exceeded 120 degrees on 21 days, and last week between July 24 and 27 the temperature climbed to 127 degrees.
Preliminary data from last month also indicate that several other locations have experienced their hottest months on record, including Reno and Palm Springs, California.
