The cost of building the next phase of the Centennial Bowl freeway interchange in northwest Las Vegas has gone up nearly $12 million.
Transportation officials attribute the increase to President Donald Trump’s order to levy a 25 percent tariff on steel.
The Nevada Department of Transportation this week awarded a $61-million contract to Las Vegas Paving, a contract that was originally started at $49 million.

The project will use more than 5 million pounds of steel to create ramps and bridges linking U.S. 95 with the 215 Beltway.
