LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two casinos in downtown Las Vegas reached a tentative labor agreement with unionized bartenders, food and cocktail servers and other workers over the weekend.
The Culinary Union says the five-year deal covers more than 750 workers at Fremont and Main Street Station casino-hotels. Boyd Gaming operates both properties.
The tentative agreement reached Saturday generally includes wage increases and stronger language against sexual harassment in the workplace.
The contracts of 50,000 unionized workers expired earlier this year. Workers in May voted to authorize a strike over the lack of progress on contract negotiations.
The union and casino operators have since reached agreements covering more than 20 properties. About 6,100 workers remain without contracts.
Workers over the past two weeks have picketed outside Margaritaville restaurant-casino, Westgate casino-resort and the D casino-hotel.
