Scandal Grows Around Reports Of LVCVA Airline Gift Card Misuse

A report out yesterday shows the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has not accounted for more than $50-thousand in Southwest Airlines gift card purchases.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the document says the authority bought $90,000 in gift cards between 2012 and 2017.

Soon-to-retire CEO Rossi Ralenkotter reportedly used just over $16-thousand of that on more than 50 trips for himself and his wife.  The agency’s travel coordinator says she was told to “use Southwest gift cards to pay for personal travel and that some of the gift cards were kept in Ralenkotter’s top desk drawer.”

The former senior director of business partnerships says he gave Ralenkotter the cards, but didn’t know they were used for personal travel.
