Police: 58 Shots Fired At Armed Robbery Suspect Dead In SUV

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Seven Las Vegas police officers fired a total of 58 shots in the killing of an 18-year-old who had an assault-style rifle with him in a stolen vehicle that he accelerated toward officers who shot him.

Assistant Clark County Sheriff Tim Kelly told reporters Monday that two shots struck Terrence White Jr., who died early Thursday in an SUV that then slammed into a police vehicle on a street near a northeast Las Vegas neighborhood park.

Kelly says White had been sought in a string of violent armed robberies before a patrol officer found him sleeping in a black Dodge Durango reported stolen at gunpoint June 8.

An AR-15 rifle was on the seat next to him.

Clips of two police officers' body camera showed the vehicle was peppered with gunfire as it accelerated toward officers.
