Former Newspaper Family Estate Lists For $35M At Lake Tahoe

GLENBROOK, Nev. (AP) — An expansive estate on the shores of Lake Tahoe that served as a summer retreat for the Scripps/Howard newspaper family in the 1930s has gone on the market for $35 million.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports the estate located in Glenbrook originally covered 26 acres on Tahoe's eastern shore. The property eventually was sold in the 1950s and dived into four different parcels, two of which make up the current estate known as "The Pines."

The 13.6-acre double parcel includes a main residence, guesthouse and caretaker's home. It also features a three-hole golf course with practice green, swimming pool and spa, waterfalls, trout ponds and granite outcroppings.

Chase International recently listed the property for sale.

The main residence built in 1998 has four guest suites. The grounds resemble a park, with walkways, patios and decks for outdoor living.
