County Seeks Summary Judgment In Red Rock Case

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Clark County is trying to avoid a lengthy trial in a lawsuit involving housing development near Red Rock by seeking a pre-trial ruling against an environmental nonprofit.

The county filed a motion for summary judgment in district court, contending the nonprofit Save Red Rock has produced no evidence it will suffer irreparable harm if the county processes plans from developer Jim Rhodes to build thousands of homes on Blue Diamond Hill.

The county’s motion also states that Save Red Rock failed to present any evidence that county commissioners violated open meeting laws during a zoning meeting in 2017 that was the source of controversy between the two.

The lawsuit has been ongoing since December 2016. It is scheduled to go to trial in September.
