2 New Hires Approved For New Superintendent Staff

The Clark County School Board approved two hires requested by the new superintendent at his first meeting Thursday night, despite concerns raised by some trustees.

The Nevada Independent reports the board voted 4-to-3 to hire Diane Gullett as deputy superintendent and Jennifer Cupid-McCoy as chief of staff.

Superintendent Jesus Jara worked with Gullett and Cupid-McCoy in Florida before coming to Nevada.

The three trustees who voted against the hires were not opposed to bringing in new personnel, but questioned the hiring process and suggested annual salaries - $160,692 for Gullet and $145,860 for Cupid-McCoy.
